Description
The Familiar Bluet Damselfly (Enallagma civile), also called Common Bluet, Northern Bluet, and Common Blue Damselfly, is mostly blue and has a length of about 1.4 inches. Their habitat is in a freshwater pond environment with plants and vegetation. The blue is described as Cerulean Blue. The runoff of water containing pesticides into freshwater ponds has adverse effects on the success of this species.
This Familiar Bluet Damselfly perched on plant with unopened buds was photographed at the Tonaquint Nature Center in St. George, Utah on 6-25-2021. I used a Nikon D850 camera body and a Nikon 500mm f/5.6 PF VR lens to capture this image. Settings: 1/3200 sec, f/6.3, ISO 2200.
I am honored that my photograph was featured in the Fine Art America groups:
